January 10, 2021 - Promote a new service. Grow your social media presence. Generate more leads. Attract new employees. All of these are popular digital marketing objectives we see throughout multiple industries, but it’s time to get specific about how you plan to tackle these goals with the 11.5 months you have left in 2022.

Over the last couple of months, creating big goals has been a hot topic for both individuals and businesses. We spent 2021 reacting to the challenges that the pandemic threw at us. From canceled business trips to working from home, our marketing goals might have adapted to meet the state of our stressed and busy world. As we enter 2022 with caution, we can’t help but create goals and schedules that instill a sense of normalcy. We don’t want any unprecedented events in 2022, so we try to plan ahead.

Whether you built a hefty 2022 marketing plan or have a couple of specific digital marketing goals you’d like to achieve, this blog will help you find success. Ideally, your goals are already SMART (specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound). If not, consider revisiting your 2022 goals before moving forward.

If you already have your 2022 digital marketing goals, here are 4 ways that you can be sure to meet those goals this year.

1.     Make a list of the specific tactics you’ll utilize to meet each of your goals.

What marketing tactics are available to you that will help you meet your goals? Let’s revisit the vague “promote a new service” objective. If you need to promote a new truckload service in a key market, how can you do that? Maybe you’ll use organic social media, influencers, email marketing, and/or Google Ads. Consider your unique brand and specific objectives before selecting tactics that help you reach your goal most efficiently.

2.     Create a new spreadsheet that aligns your budget with your specific marketing goals.

While you might have a certain dollar amount available as your marketing budget, it’s important to determine how much money you’ll spend to achieve each goal on an individual level. If possible, also look at your budget per-channel and per-tactic. This is the best way to measure your return on investment (ROI) while ensuring you have the resources you need to meet all of your goals.

3.     Make achieving your goals simple with project management tools.

If you’re not using a project management software, we recommend implementing one into your 2022 marketing plan. You can ensure your team is actively working towards the specific goals in your marketing plan and monitor time-bound goals, budget spending, and even daily tasks in programs like Trello, Asana, and Monday.

Did you know?

You can even create content calendars on Trello! At drop & hook, we create boards with content programs, dates, and upcoming events to keep everything organized. You can even color code your content by campaign or completion status.

4.     Regularly measure your performance and adapt as needed.

If 2020 and 2021 taught us anything, it was the ability to quickly adapt to changing situations. Use what you’ve learned about converting in-person events to virtual events and curating meaningful connections through Zoom. Always be willing to adapt as we will continue to face a pandemic and evolving technology. Otherwise, you’ll get left behind.

No matter what your goals are, it’s important to set key performance indicators (KPIs) to stay on track of your progress. Bonus tip: Add these to your project management tool for easy measurement.

If you have goals around social media performance, consider investing in a social media management platform. The drop & hook team is a big advocate for SproutSocial, but there are several great tools available to help you schedule content, monitor performance, utilize your unique data, analyze competitors, and manage your online communities. One of our favorite SproutSocial features is tagging, which allows you to tag content and messages with campaigns, content programs, and even sentiment. This will save you time on your social media reporting and provide a comprehensive look at your efforts.

Setting new goals is both exciting and nerve-racking. By implementing these 4 tips, you can start working towards meeting your digital marketing goals. Need help? At drop & hook, our professionals can drive your content strategy and create a clear route to achieving your goals.
